Technology Spotlight: Gloves That Enhance Passive Learning

New breakthroughs are being made in the field of haptic passive learning — learning that takes place without the active attention of the learner. Scientists at Georgia Tech University are conducting studies with special tactile interface gloves to passively teach participants new skills — skills like playing the piano or typing.

In addition to acquiring new skills, this learning approach is also being applied to rehabilitation for those with physical and mental impairments. These promising new developments in passive learning are featured in this week’s Technology Spotlight.
