As part of its new Middle School course series, Acellus has released Grade 6 Social Studies.
The course focuses on world history and geography from pre-civilization through the rise of the Roman Empire and addresses various national and state standards, including those ofCalifornia.
As they begin the course, students study Hominids and Homo Sapiens and their migration to the six continents, and then continue on with the Paleolithic and Neolithic ages. Students also study the Middle East, Egypt, India, Judaism, Mythology, and Early Greece as part of the course.
After examining the Greek City States and Persia and the war between Greece and Persia, students study East Asia, focusing on China’s geography, isolation, warring states, religions, politics, and dynasties. This leads to the events surrounding the rise of Rome, where students study some of its legends and founding people, including Julius Caesar and Pax Romana.
Emphasized throughout the course is the interaction and enduring contributions among the various cultures and on the link, despite time, between the contemporary and ancient worlds.
